It looks like a majority of Americans agree with your aunt who thinks that you are too old to have a baby. A Gallup poll released last week found that 58 percent of Americans believe that a woman should have her first child before the age of 26, and just three percent believe anytime over 30 is the ideal age. Yikes, is nobody fans of Murphy Brown anymore? That good old double standard between men and women still exists, though: 52 percent said 26 or older is the ideal age for men to have their first child. Men are the harshest critics of women (big surprise), with women slightly more likely than men to consider over the age of 30 as ideal for having children.
But a majority think men's ideal age is older.
