UCONN Captures Women’s NCAA Title

Beating Louisville 93-60.

Sorry Louisville, you can’t win them all. Louisville women lost the NCAA championship to the University of Connecticut 93-60 on Tuesday night. The championship ties UConn Coach Geno Auriemma with Tennessee’s Pat Summit for the most titles in women’s basketball history. Beating Summit’s record may soon become a reality with UConn’s powerhouse Breanna Stewart, who scored 23 points in Tuesday’s game—18 in the first half alone. UCONN's victory ended Louisville’s storied run in the NCAA championship, after the team pulled off an upset victory against Brittney Griner and Baylor in the regional semifinals and became the first No. 5 seed to make the championship.
