Canadian Teen’s Rape Case Reopened
Just over a week after 17-year-old Rehtaeh Parsons killed herself, Canadian authorities are reopening her case. Parsons was allegedly raped in 2011. A photo of the incident went viral at her school, leading to a year of bullying that Parsons’s parents believe caused their daughter to take her own life. After the initial yearlong investigation police concluded there was not enough new information to charge anyone, but officials say they have received new and credible information in the case. The hacktivist group Anonymous is believed to have played a role in tracking down the information.
