New York City Offers Job to Teach Breast-feeding
Breastfeeding: it’s so hard to learn that New York City will pay someone $70,000 to teach it? While women have long asserted that breast-feeding is harder to latch onto than previously believed, it appears New York is listening: the city has a three-year, $1.2 million grant to create a program called the Breastfeeding Empowerment Zone in Brooklyn, which will provide breast-feeding information to parents. The kicker? It’s a program manager position and will be paying up to $73,000 a year. It’s part of a larger citywide program called “Latch On NYC” that encourages breast-feeding, with up to 29 area hospitals participating.
