WSJ Memo: Look Nice on Camera
Gone are the days of disheveled reporters. Welcome to a new era at The Wall Street Journal, where a “quick visit to our resident makeup artist on the sixth floor is encouraged” before all video appearances. In an internal memo, The Wall Street Journal urged reporters that are giving video appearances on WSJ Live to “take into consideration your appearance both in terms of journalistic content and on-air presentation.” “People are watching—and they are watching you,” the memo reads. “All of us appearing on-air should take care to present ourselves in the best light possible, and that includes physical appearance,” the memo continues. “You want the spotlight focused on your stellar journalism—not shining off your forehead.” Hopefully, News Corp.’s insurance covers all the therapy this memo is sure to bring on.
