Lesbian Sex Drama Wins Palme d'Or
In a move befitting the week that gay marriage was legalized in France, the top laurel of the Cannes Film Festival, the prestigious Palme d'Or, was given to Blue is the Warmest Color on Sunday. There was no clear frontrunner for the festival's highest award this year, but the nine-member jury headed by Steven Spielberg, voted for the film, which tells a lesbian coming-of-age tale. The award went to director Abdellatif Kechiche.
