Your Friends Can’t Afford to Be In Your Wedding
Wedding season may be the one time in a person’s life when they wish for fewer friends, and more than ever now that the wedding industry has rebounded from the recession. According to a 2012 study by TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com, the average wedding budget weighing in at $28,427--the highest since recession began in 2008. That’s great for the party planning business--and the couples that can afford their dream celebration--but what about their poor friends who are forced to go broke just so they can get dressed up stand beside their buddies in pictures? No more! Best friends are taking a (small) stand against matrimonial money spending. A survey by CouponCabin.com says 9 percent of people have turned down a request to be a bridesmaid or goomsman because of the cost. Young men are especially willing to say no to their friends, with 12 percent of those surveyed saying they’ve turned down offers to be a groomsman.
