Women Train for Syrian Frontline
Nora Husari is just one of the women in Syria who have traded their day jobs for an AK-47. Husari used to work at a beauty salon but now claims to have killed at least eight government soldiers. She hopes others follow in her footsteps, yet female soldiers are a rarity in Syria because of the conservative Muslims. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said women are fighting – but not in large numbers. Rather, it depends on where the women are in Syria and who they are fighting for. For instance, if they are in a large Jihadist group they definitely wouldn’t be allowed to fight – let alone cook.
