Swedish Tourist Released From Turkish Jail
Sarah Olssen, a 24-year-old Swedish tourist, was released from Turkish prison on Monday after being arrested over the weekend for allegedly insulting Turkish state officials after taking part in a protest in Istanbul's Taksim Square. The journalism student from Stockholm was detained along with 10 other people, including a 14-year-old boy, on charges of, "insulting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan." The woman's lawyer said she was visiting Turkey to observe the protests, and had planned to stay until late August. After being released, she is expected to return to Stockhom on Monday night.
