Planned Parenthood: Texas Bill Only the Beginning

Also calls it ‘unconstitutional.’

So Cecile Richards never learned how to mince words—oh right, her mother is late Texas governor Ann Richards. The Planned Parenthood president told Andrea Mitchell on Tuesday that Texas’s abortion bill is just the first of many that will restrict women’s access to abortion and other vital health care. The bill was first successfully filibustered by State Sen. Wendy Davis, but then Gov. Rick Perry called a special session of the legislature, leading to the bill’s eventually being passed last week. Richards said parts of the law are “unconstitutional” and warned of the danger of politicians putting their own political agendas ahead of women’s health care.
