Women Recoup All Jobs Lost in Recession
The Great Recession was unkind to everyone, but men are still feeling the burn more than women. Females recouped all job losses they suffered during the recession, while men are still out by 2.1 million jobs. Since women make up much of the retail, education, health care, and hospitality industries, they’ve seen greater job growth. Male-dominated construction and manufacturing industries have not fared as well. The August unemployment rate was 6.8 percent for women and 7.7 percent for men.
