Saudi Ban on Women Drivers Is a Hoax
Amazing that the actual morality police couldn’t find a section in Sharia to stop female drivers like the time-honored biblical mention in Leviticus that bans homosexuality. Religious police in Saudi Arabia have long banned women drivers, but the country’s new head of morality said Thursday that the practice is not actually banned according to the country’s controversial Islamic law. Head of morality police Sheikh Abdulatif Al al-Sheikh told Reuters he has no authority to change Saudi policy on women driving, but since he was made head, the morality police had not pursued or stopped any women for driving. In the past, despite the lack of an actual written law, Saudi police have arrested women for driving.
