ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR

Revenge-Porn Site Victims Aim for Justice

Class-action lawsuit filed.

What is justice for a victim of revenge porn? Their personal photos are published online, their identities leaked to the outside world and sometimes their entire lives ruined—and they face increasingly less sympathy when people find out that oftentimes the photos were taken voluntarily (although not the publishing). But victims are starting to fight back: 25 plaintiffs—including five who are underage—have filed a class-action lawsuit against the now-defunct revenge porn site Texxxan.com and its operator GoDaddy for invasion of privacy.  A Michigan judge awarded $300,00 in damages after the website yougotposted published photos of her and New Jersey has a law that allows for criminal prosecution. “Sometimes I want to get into a fetal position and cry,” said Marianna Taschinger, 23, who has accused her ex-boyfriend of leaking naked photos to Texxxan.com. Since the photos were published, Taschinger has left her job and was stalked by a man who found her pictures online.
