Here's How Not to Interview Pussy Riot

Irish talk show host botches interview.

Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina  gave their first European interview since their release from prison…and it was a bit awkward, to say the least. Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina appeared on Brian O'Connor's The Saturday Night Show, only to be subjected to 15 minutes of painfully uninterested mindless TV chatter fit less more reality TV contestants that political dissidents. The video basically serves as a tutorial on how not to interview internationally renowned punk activists. Rule number one: don't call them "girls." Rule two: They may have something more interesting to share than their thoughts on Madonna. Rule three: when you want to talk about their time in prison, or their activist work in prisoner's rights, don't ask them about the "gulag." Please. Feel free to cringe along to the interview, or simply admire Tolokonnikova's perfectly posed stare-down face.
