Points for creativity? A 31 year-old Thai woman nestled a sedated two-month old tiger cub among stuffed animals in her suitcase in an attempt to throw off Bangkok airport security. X-rays showed the presence of a real cub and officials were prompted to open the woman's suitcase. The cub is now under the care of the care of the Rescue Centre of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation. "We applaud all the agencies that came together to uncover this brazen smuggling attempt," said Chris Shepherd, South-East Asia deputy regional director for Traffic, the wildlife trade monitoring network. "If people are trying to smuggle live tigers in their check-in luggage, they obviously think wildlife smuggling is something easy to get away with and do not fear reprimand,” he added.
