Yale Student Jumps Off Empire State Building

Sad news out of New York: A 21-year-old man died after leaping off the Empire State Building, The New York Times reports. The man took a running start and vaulted over a barrier on the 86th floor observation deck around 6:15 pm on Tuesday, and landed on a sidewalk near the building on West 34th Street. The young man has been ID'd as Yale Student Cameron Dabaghi, from Austin, Texas. A suicide note was reportedly left in his New Haven dorm room, and in it he apologized for turning to suicide. Since the building's construction in 1930, more than 30 people have died from such jumps.
