A Yemeni court has ordered the capture of U.S.-born Anwar al-Awlaki, a cleric with ties to the Fort Hood shooter and the failed Christmas Day underwear bomber. Following the announcement, hundreds of troops were deployed to Shabwa province to assist in the search for al-Awlaki, a powerful figure within al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The CIA and the U.S. military had already pegged al-Awlaki for capture or assassination. The order to capture al-Awlaki follows months of boosted effort by Yemen to fight terrorism and combat al Qaeda.
