The head of the Kennedy Center’s National Symphony Orchestra is stepping down after a “really hard year” at the performing arts venue that President Donald Trump has overhauled.

Jean Davidson, who became executive director in April 2023, told The New York Times of the frustration that followed from Trump’s intrusion in the Kennedy Center’s affairs by naming himself chairman and installing MAGA loyalist Richard Grenell as its president.

“It’s no secret that this has been a really hard year,” Davidson said. “So I started looking for a new opportunity several months ago.”

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was spotted at the White House on Friday as President Donald Trump demanded “unconditional surrender” by Iran.

The United States is the only country where a majority of people think their compatriots are morally suspect, a new poll has found. For the first time, Pew has looked into how people perceive the morality of their fellow citizens, and in the U.S., the answer is striking. Researchers found that while 92 percent of Canadians thought their fellow citizens were good people, 53 percent of Americans thought theirs were either somewhat bad or very bad people. Seven percent of Canadians thought their fellows were bad. People from 25 countries were involved in the research, with all 24 others returning overall positive views. The data found that people whose preferred political party is out of power tend to have a more negative bias, with 60 percent of Democrats holding a negative view of Americans, compared to 46 percent of Republicans. As this is the first time Pew has asked such a question, there is no historical data to compare against, nor were any follow-up questions asked about why people felt the way they do. Gallup has asked Americans about the nation’s “overall state of moral values” since 2003, and the answer has always come back in the red.

Speaking on Thursday at an event for medical students and future doctors, Kennedy said he worked with Education Secretary Linda McMahon to help his niece, Zoe Hines, land a contract with WWE. As many as 37 pages of the Epstein files that should have been released by the Department of Justice remain unaccounted for, according to an analysis from NPR.

While the DOJ finally published memos on Thursday from interviews that FBI agents conducted with a woman in 2019 who alleged that both Epstein and President Donald Trump sexually assaulted her as a minor, 37 pages are still missing, including notes from the interviews, a law enforcement report and license records. A prior investigation from NPR found that 53 pages were missing.

The memos, also known as Form 302s, were written in August and October 2019 when an unidentified woman contacted the FBI to allege that, sometime in the 1980s when she was between 13 and 15 years old, Epstein had assaulted her in South Carolina and then transported her to New York or New Jersey where she alleged she was assaulted by Trump.

MAGA favorite Ken Paxton is defying Donald Trump by suggesting he would only drop out of a hotly contested Senate runoff in Texas if the SAVE Act gets passed in the upper chamber.

In a post on X on Thursday, the constantly embattled Texas attorney general said he would “consider” ending his challenge for John Cornyn’s U.S. Senate seat if the filibuster is scrapped so that the bill requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration does not need the support of at least 60 senators.

Paxton has essentially given himself an excuse to remain in the race after openly defying the president, who is believed to be leaning toward the incumbent Cornyn in the runoff, despite Paxton being the MAGA candidate of choice. The SAVE Act has already cleared the House but is not expected to have enough support to reach the 60-vote threshold in the Senate, and there is little appetite among senators to eliminate the filibuster.

A woman who contacted the FBI in 2019 with allegations of sexual assault against Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump revealed details of the creepy nicknames she alleges the pair used to describe young women.

In the interview, conducted with FBI agents in August 2019 following Epstein’s arrest for the sex-trafficking of minors the previous month, the woman claimed that sometime in the 1980s, when she was between the ages of 13 to 15, Epstein introduced her to Trump, who, she alleged, sexually assaulted her.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, who died in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial, and has not been charged with a crime.

The Justice Department has released documents detailing interviews conducted by the FBI with a woman who accused both Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump of sexual assault.

The move comes following reports last month that the DOJ had only published documents relating to the first of four interviews with the woman in which she alleged she was abused by Epstein when she was a minor. That document did not mention Trump.

In addition to the woman’s interviews, an analysis conducted by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday found that more than 40,000 documents were missing from the online file cache. In a statement to the Daily Beast, the DOJ said that the files were offline for review “and should be ready for re-production by the end of the week.”

Britney Spears’ representative didn’t beat around the bush when addressing the star’s arrest on suspicion of a DUI.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” the representative told People on Thursday. Spears, 44, was taken into custody in Ventura County at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to TMZ. She was processed at around 3 a.m. and released at around 6 a.m. The pop star is expected to face her charges on May 4, according to the site.

President Donald Trump has little to no public support for his ballroom vanity project.

More than 32,000 people submitted digital and handwritten notes to the National Capital Planning Commission, which is overseeing the ballroom’s construction, to express their opinions on 79-year-old Trump tearing down the East Wing to build his 90,000 square foot ballroom.

Around 97 percent of 9,000 comments from the public are against the construction of the ballroom, according to a CNN analysis.

A group of young Republicans ran a group chat in which they used racial slurs like punctuation and came up with dozens of ways to brutally murder Black Americans.

The Republican Party’s Miami-Dade County secretary, Abel Alexander Carvajal, a 23-year-old second-year law student at Florida International University and co-founder of the school’s Turning Point USA chapter, created the WhatsApp group, initially called “Uber Ret---s Yapping Inc.,” last September, according to the Miami Herald and The Floridian.

Using the chat administrator name MaoTze Abel, a reference to Chinese communist despot Mae Zedong, Carvajal oversaw exchanges in which he and other members used the N-word and other variations of the slur more than 400 times.

NBC has revealed that Savannah Guthrie “plans to return” to the Today show after she visited her colleagues to thank them for their support. Guthrie made her first appearance at the Today show studios on Thursday, nearly a month after her mother Nancy’s kidnapping, and told her colleagues she’s planning to return. Today co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones addressed Guthrie’s visit on-air, saying she “came back home” to 30 Rock, where the show is filmed. She hugged the staff and told them she has the “intention to return.” An NBC News spokesperson confirmed Guthrie’s return to People but did not offer a specific timeline for when she may be back on air. In videos first captured by TMZ, the 54-year-old was seen speaking to the Today show crew. She was also seen hugging Today alum Hoda Kotb, who returned to her former post as co-host to support the production amid Guthrie’s absence. A company insider told Page Six, “At the moment, we’re taking things week by week, day by day,” adding that “Hoda has been a steady hand and calm presence for the staff.” The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has been slow-moving. The 84-year-old was last seen on January 31 in her Tucson, Arizona home. Police have yet to identify a suspect.
