Trump, 80, shared a photo of his newly finished helipad vanity project on Truth Social Monday evening, praising its construction and touting it as “essentially indestructible.”

“This is the first picture taken of the new Heliport Landing Zone on the South Lawn of the White House!” Trump wrote. “It is magnificently made of carved granite in shades of Black and White. It is truly a work of art and, even the Trump Haters are saying, ‘Wow, that’s really good!’”

The 84-year-old senator’s dramatic return came as the Senate returned from a five-week recess, but McConnell was gone for 92 days.

But he did not speak as he was loaded into a wheelchair-adapted minivan and driven away. He lives a block from the Capitol building. He appeared thinner and even frailer than before, and was wearing orthopedic running shoes.

A man is sounding the alarm after his straightforward toothache devolved into a life-threatening health emergency.

Luke Woodhouse, 35, recalls experiencing tooth pain during his work shift. By the afternoon, it was accompanied by a high fever. While “irritating,” neither symptom felt particularly concerning.

“I didn’t think much of it,” Woodhouse, who had no history of significant medical issues, told Queensland Health. “I assumed I was coming down with some sort of bug, or some viral illness.”

A 70-year-old father was found after being lost for over a week on a remote island. Craig Berg was injured and hypothermic when Michigan State Police troopers and backpackers caught sight of him on September 12 on Isle Royale in Lake Superior. A helicopter hoisted him up, took him to an airport about 140 miles away, and then to a local hospital. Desperate to see his father after a distressing week, Evan Berg spoke to him over the phone while driving 455 miles to the hospital. “I yelled at the top of my lungs, ‘He’s alive!’ People looked at me, and oh, man, it was a wonderful feeling,” Evan said about hearing the good news via text from his stepmother. “We’re just so grateful, and we couldn’t be more happy and relieved.” Berg’s family said he embarked on a solo hiking trip on Aug. 27 and was expected to begin his return Sept. 5, but he didn’t check into his hotel or board the ferry home. Evan said his dad was found in “rough shape” when he was saved, but well enough to ask for food and water and to joke about writing a book about the experience.

Donald Trump’s bonkers Truth Social meltdown on Monday prompted a call for his immediate removal.

Trump, 80, fired off several mind-boggling posts on his social media platform on Monday, ranting about everything from oil prices and AI to his $5,000 bribe for Americans.

“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” the president wrote in his first post of the day. “The Trump Administration has stopped AI ‘people’ from doing bad, or potentially bad, ‘things,’ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a ‘perfect little angel’ - and we will continue to do so!”

Bruce Davis, Charles Manson’s right-hand man, has died at the age of 83, according to corrections officials. Davis died at 11:03 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, where he was incarcerated. His cause of death has not been released. While Davis did not participate in the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders, which claimed seven lives, he was reportedly very close to Manson. During a 2014 parole hearing, Davis said he “wanted to be Charlie’s favorite guy.” The cult killer was sentenced to life in prison in 1972 for the murders of Gary Hinman and Donald “Shorty” Shea. “I always say a prayer upon their passing,” Debra Tate, Sharon’s sister, told TMZ—referring to other Manson Family members who have died behind bars. “Basically it says may they finally have clarity on the actions that they caused during their life, and may Lord have mercy on their souls,” she said.

President Donald Trump, already in voters’ crosshairs over the economy, is now getting a failing grade for his handling of an issue looming larger by the day, according to CNN’s chief data analyst.

Harry Enten, whom Trump singled out as the network’s “best person” last month, revealed on CNN News Central Monday that Americans “absolutely despise” the 80-year-old president’s handling of artificial intelligence.

Enten, 38, pointed to a new University of Massachusetts Amherst poll finding that just 23 percent of Americans say Trump has handled AI well, compared with 57 percent who say he has handled it poorly.

Two American teenagers were brutally attacked by ICE agents while they said they were on their way to enlist in the Marine Corps.

The two teens said they were filming an ICE-involved incident happening at a nearby elementary school in Alamo, Texas, last week. It was then that federal agents used force and pepper-sprayed the pair.

Federal agents were seen on video pulling one teen from the car and punching him several times in the face while he was face-down on the pavement. The person filming the scene appears to repeatedly yell at the agents that the boys are minors.

A Georgia town just fired its youngest mayor in history due to sexually explicit messages with a high school student and improper purchases on the city credit card. Jayden Williams was elected mayor of Stockbridge, Georgia, just 10 months ago to lead a population of 30,000 in a mostly ceremonial role. But the Stockbridge City Council voted 3-1 to remove Williams after hiring a law firm to investigate the allegations. The investigation found that his texts and Instagram messages with the 18-year-old included discussions about the teenager joining Williams’ mentorship program. He exchanged flirtatious messages and explicit images before he assumed the elected position. Williams admitted he sent nude images after previously telling a reporter he didn’t remember. “Is getting nude photographs via text message so unremarkable to you that you don’t remember when you get them?” the investigators’ lawyer asked Williams during a council meeting on Saturday. Williams replied, saying, “It’s not memorable nor is it abnormal for somebody my age.” Williams also admitted to using the city credit card for a haircut, food, clothing, movie tickets, and other purchases. But the former mayor claimed he had used the card accidentally because his personal card was the same color.

Mel Ismail, 56, a firefighter and father, had his foot ripped off by a shark at the popular Glenfield Beach in Geraldton, Australia. Teenagers used a surfboard rope to create a makeshift tourniquet, saving Ismail’s life. Another surfer who spotted the father in distress in the water swam him back to shore. The surfer is in “serious but stable condition,” Australian broadcaster ABC reported. Ismail’s damaged surfboard is undergoing testing to establish the species of shark. Authorities closed a large section of the beach after the horrific incident. “To ensure community safety, all recreational water users are advised to avoid the area as the shark may still be in the vicinity,” the City of Greater Geraldton said in a statement. Shadow Fisheries Minister Kirrilee Warr, who is a Member of Parliament representing the area, said, “I do understand the victim is a well-known surfer amongst the community.” Scientists in Australia say that warming seas and increasingly crowded waters are changing where sharks migrate, possibly leading to more common shark attacks.

Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones, 59, has revealed why she felt compelled to leave the show.

“If they had got me when I was 23, 25, I would have stayed there 20 years at least,” she told Obsessed: The Podcast. “I definitely would have stayed there. Bad, good, whatever. I would have stayed.”

Jones was a cast member on SNL from 2014 through 2019. She came from a stand-up comedy background and joined the show at 47—much later in life than many of her castmates. SNL was central to her growth as a comedian and her success in the entertainment industry, but for Jones, it wasn’t a means to an end.

Legendary costume fashion designer Bob Mackie, known for his sequined, show-stopping looks, has died at the age of 87. “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Bob Mackie passed away today,” a statement on his Instagram read on Monday. “He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do. His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world.” Mackie was best known for his decades-long collaboration with Cher, but he also designed for Barbra Streisand, Carol Burnett, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Bernadette Peters, Bette Midler, Mitzi Gaynor, Liza Minnelli, Elton John and RuPaul. Among his most famous creations was Cher’s iconic 1986 Oscars ensemble, which paired a towering black feathered headdress with a jewel-encrusted two-piece outfit. “I started it all, I’m afraid,” Mackie said of Cher’s risqué outfits in an interview with the Archive of American Television. He is survived by his longtime partner Ray Aghayan, one granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.

Missing Sen. Mitch McConnell has been cashing it in during his prolonged and mysterious absence from Capitol Hill.

McConnell, the former Senate majority leader who earns an annual salary of $174,000, made $43,500 in taxpayer-funded paychecks during his 92-day absence from the halls of Congress. The 84-year-old senator was taken to the hospital from his Washington, D.C. home on June 14 and has not been seen in public since.

The senator made even more money by not working for three months than the average annual income of one of his constituents, as the average income in Kentucky is just $35,821 per year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

I have always loved Practical Magic. I saw it in theaters in 1998 with my mom and sister, and it has stayed with me ever since. I may or may not live in the Pacific Northwest partially because of Practical Magic, which is set in Massachusetts but filmed in Washington. My wardrobe, hair, and cluttered home are all influenced by the Owens sisters. I watch the movie frequently, especially when I’m depressed or sick. It always makes me cry.

I saw the sequel, Practical Magic 2, this weekend with my coven (two friends) and a theater full of women (and by my count, two men on dates). The audience audibly tittered during romantic moments, laughed at the sisterly banter, and clapped as the credits rolled. By the end of the weekend, it had unseated Spider-Man: Brand New Day as the number one movie at the box office with a $30 million haul.

But I was left utterly unmoved.

Ukraine has sanctioned the organization for allegedly helping Russia carry out the “mass abduction, illegal deportation, and forced relocation” of Ukrainian citizens, including children, in occupied territories under the guise of “rehabilitation.”

Documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney, 72, has expressed “deep concern” about the streaming rollout of Musk, his new four-hour documentary chronicling Elon Musk’s descent into corruption.

Donald Trump completely rejected the growing warnings about artificial intelligence’s risk to humanity in a bonkers social media post where he touted how smart he was.

“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) The president was referencing Anthroipic’s Dario Amodei, who warned about the risks of AI and called for the industry to slow the pace of building the technology in a post. Others chimed in, saying they agreed.

The now-shuttered Florida immigration detention center dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” kept detainees in cages and failed to comply with most federal detention standards to provide basic human needs.

An unannounced January visit by the Department of Homeland Security’s watchdog agency found that between July 2025 and January, 79 detainees were kept in “small metal enclosures” dubbed as “calming areas” that were four feet in width, according to a new report.

The enclosures were described to investigators as a “safe and secure place” for detainees to “reflect on their behavior choices.”

An Australian woman has died after plunging off a 600 foot cliff at a popular tourist resort in Bali. Authorities identified Brianna Lani Cronin, 29, as the dead person at Penida Island in the district of Klungklung, about 600 miles southeast of the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, on Saturday morning. A spokesperson for the local police said that a lifeguard first noticed someone stranded at the top of the cliff at around 8 a.m. She fell as they were organizing further help and was dead by the time emergency services attended the scene, suffering multiple injuries as the result of hitting the rockface on the way down. David Crisafulli, Premier of Cronin’s native Queensland in Australia, described her death as “just tremendously sad.” He said she had been “a young woman on the trip of a lifetime, active, enjoying herself.” A spokesperson for the Australian Department of Foreign Affaris and Trade said Cronin’s family is receiving assistance. “We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time.”

Dominick Bianchi, 35, has been found dead in a wooded area, after he was reported missing last Tuesday. Bianchi had last been seen at his home on Forrest Pointe Drive in East Greenbush, New York, near Albany. “The East Greenbush Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Dominick’s family, loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic loss,” the department said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with them as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.” His cause of death is unknown. Just months earlier Bianchi had married his wife, Julianna Zyra, 33. Zyra told local news station WTEN that her husband had been struggling with his mental health “for quite some time.” “Nobody really knows about it,” she said. “It’s not fair. And I really wish people would stay off the internet, hypothesizing things that happened. He’s very sick, and he’s not in the right headspace.” The EGPD also said Bianchi was diabetic, and his family was unsure if he had insulin with him.

Cheetah Chrome, guitarist of the bands Dead Boys and Rocket from the Tombs, who’s credited with shaping the punk rock movement, has died at the age of 71. His cause of death is unknown. The Dead Boys announced Chrome’s death via Instagram on Sunday, writing, “We are incredibly sad to announce the news of the passing of our beloved friend and bandmate Cheetah Chrome. Cheetah was a true original, an architect of the punk rock movement,” the band wrote. “A one-man hurricane tearing up the musical landscape with his feral guitar riffs and manic energy. Beyond all that Cheetah was also just a really sweet guy that loved rock-roll.” The Cleveland musician, born Eugene Richard O’Connor, opened for Television and Patti Smith with Rocket from the Tombs. Rock critic Lester Bangs called the Dead Boys “the original legendary underground rock band”. In an online tribute to Chrome, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan wrote: “Your guitar playing and attack taught me so much about ‘edge’ and precision in punk and beyond. One of Vladimir Putin’s nemeses has issued a dire warning to the Russian president if he ever considers launching an all-out attack on NATO.

“If Russia attacked us and we took our gloves off, I think we would defeat Russia quite quickly,” Radoslaw Sikorski, who serves as both deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Poland, a member of the alliance, told a security conference in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Saturday.

A military veteran and a midwife have died after a plane crash above the French Riviera. Local authorities have identified Patrick Feron, a former U.S. Air Force general, as the pilot of the biplane, which went down in La Londe-les-Maures in the upmarket region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. His companion has not been named but is said to have worked at the Fréjus Saint-Raphaël hospital. A Trump-appointed federal judge has shot down the president’s bid to seize control of mail-in voting during the November midterm elections.

The U.S. Postal Service adopted a rule last month requiring vote-by-mail ballots to be sent only to people enrolled in a federal database of absentee voters maintained by the USPS, with ballots transported in envelopes whose design has been approved by the Postal Service.

It came in response to a March executive order from Trump that sought to limit voting by mail, despite the Constitution giving states the authority to carry out elections, with Congress, not the executive branch, playing an oversight role.

President Donald Trump is set to dismantle a cornerstone of his predecessor’s climate policy by repealing limits on greenhouse gas emissions from coal and gas plants.

The move rolls back rules introduced by President Joe Biden in 2024 that required existing coal plants to sharply reduce carbon emissions by storing them underground, or face being shut down.

The rules also required any new gas plants built after the rules went into effect to use cleaner fuels such as hydrogen.

Police have arrested a woman after she allegedly got completely naked in front of other passengers on her flight. The incident occurred on American Airlines flight 1779 from Baltimore to Miami on Friday. The company has not yet commented publicly, but incident reporting logs published by aviation website Airlive said she spent the flight behaving “in an indecent manner”. According to flight-tracking websites, the flight was not diverted. Police were then waiting at the gate at Miami International Airport and took the passenger into custody, AirLive reported. The previous Saturday, passengers traveling from Dallas to Newark on a separate American Airlines flight duct-taped Layne Arthur Lundeen, 67, after he allegedly began shouting racist and homophobic abuse, bit one fellow traveler, and then tried to bite another. American Airlines said of that incident that the flight had to be diverted because Lundeen, who other passengers said appeared to be drunk, had been “disruptive.” The company added that “the safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority,” and that “we thank our team members for their professionalism and our customers for their understanding.”

60 Minutes’ new conservative hire ended the show’s season opener with a nod to its controversial changes during a startling warning to viewers.

Ross Douthat, 46, was hired by MAGA-coded CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, despite not having any TV experience. Once overrun by feral cats and riddled with mold, President Donald Trump’s childhood home has sold for $1.93 million, following a $500,000 renovation. The five-bedroom Tudor-style house in Jamaica Estates, a Queens neighborhood in New York City, had fallen into disrepair by the time developer Tommy Lin bought it for $835,000 in 2025. A burst pipe left water damage, mold took hold, and a colony of feral cats moved in. Lin spent eight months renovating the property before listing it for $1.99 million. The broker managing the listing said “there were quite a lot of people” interested because of its presidential connection. Trump’s father, real estate developer Fred Trump, built the brick-and-stucco home in 1940. Trump lived there until age four, when his family moved to a larger house nearby. The property sold for $2.14 million in 2017 to a buyer who attempted to cash in on Trump’s first term. It became a Trump-themed Airbnb renting for $725 a night before falling into neglect. Even after its extensive makeover, the house fetched less than it did when Trump first took office.

Donald Trump’s administration appears eager to use the revamped 60 Minutes as a MAGA mouthpiece.

The CBS staple returns for its 59th season on Sunday, steered by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, a former conservative blogger with no previous experience running a television newsroom, and tech columnist-turned-executive producer Nick Bilton.

The premiere comes after Weiss, who has been accused of attempting to interfere with the show on behalf of the Trump administration, gutted the staff in favor of a rightward shift.

Warner Bros.’s Practical Magic 2 topped North American charts in its debut weekend, earning an estimated $30 million. Internationally, the film starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman made about $16 million, adding up to a worldwide opening of approximately $46 million. The sequel, which comes nearly 30 years after the original movie, knocked Spider-Man: Brand New Day out of the No. 1 spot, after six consecutive weeks of leading at the domestic box office. “It’s the kind of movie that you can build an evening at the movie theater around with your friends,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Rentrak. However, Dergarabedian said it will be even more important to watch how the movie does next weekend. “It’s not necessarily about that opening weekend,” he said. “Weekend two will tell the tale, no question about it.” The 1998 Practical Magic, adapted from the book by Alice Hoffman, topped out at $46 million during its initial domestic run, but continued to stay a cult classic through home viewing.

Kentucky Rep. James Comer has said he “expects” Mitch McConnell to make a long-awaited reappearance this week, but the missing senator’s office has put that claim in doubt.

Sen. McConnell, 84, has now been out of the public eye since June 14, but—miraculously—Comer believes that the MIA Republican could make his grand return tomorrow, Sept. 14, when the Senate reconvenes after summer recess.

According to CNN, Comer said he has spoken with McConnell’s office regularly, despite not having spoken to the man in question throughout his months of absence.

Confronted with video of a Republican congressional candidate calling children “c-m trophies,” House Speaker Mike Johnson threw his support behind the would-be rep as someone he said could “save America.”

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday morning, Jake Tapper showed Johnson footage of Texas 23rd District candidate Brandon Herrera.

In a resurfaced 2022 video, Herrera tore into a gun-safety advocate with crass language about her children, saying: “Just because you let somebody cream pie you doesn’t mean I have to give a s--t about your political opinions. The fact that you have your c-m trophy doesn’t make you any less wrong about the dumb s--t you say.”

A ferry carrying 243 people overturned due to severe weather in Indonesia’s Java Sea on Sunday. While over 107 people have been rescued, 130 remain missing and the bodies of six passengers have been found. The Virgo Transport 8 ship was traveling from Surabaya in East Java to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan province when it lost contact around 2 a.m. local time. “The ship’s operator reported the incident to authorities after receiving information that the vessel had encountered bad weather,” I Putu Sudayana, who heads the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office, told the Associated Press. “We responded quickly to the incident report,” Heri Purwanto, head of the Banjarmasin Sea Port Authority, told the Jakarta Post. “Our main focus and top priority at this time is the safety of everyone on board the ship, and we are deploying a coordinated rescue operation.” Weather conditions in the area are being closely monitored as the search continues for the missing.

Jeremy Thomas, the producer of the 1987 Oscar-winning film The Last Emperor, has died at the age of 77. His family announced his death on Saturday. “Jeremy Thomas, the celebrated British producer of The Last Emperor and of over 40 other films, has died,” his family wrote. “Thomas passed away peacefully at his country home in Oxfordshire late on Friday, [Sept.] 11th, surrounded by his family and loved ones.” The producer had more than 80 feature film credits, including David Cronenberg’s Crash, Christopher Hampton’s A Dangerous Method, and Jonathan Glazer’s Sexy Beast. Terry Gilliam, who worked with Thomas on Tideland and The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, told Variety he was “lucky” to have worked with Thomas, whom he described as “a joy... He was fearless in getting some very unlikely films financed and released, often to worldwide success. The list is remarkable in range and absolutely unforgettable in quality.” Oscar nominee Luca Guadagnino, who interviewed Thomas for his epic documentary Joie de Vivre, about Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci (with whom Thomas made five films) said that “Thomas’ death leaves a gigantic void. The space he was fulfilling was a space of pure cinema.” Thomas’ cause of death is unknown.
