The Pentagon has now identified three Army soldiers who were killed in an Iranian strike on a military base in Jordan over the weekend.

Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was killed in action on Friday during an attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was killed in action on Saturday.

Trump, 80, spent last Sunday getting booed by fans at the World Cup final in New Jersey. His walk of shame across the MetLife Stadium saw the ambient crowd noise rise from 78 to 84 decibels once the booing kicked in, roughly the sound of a passing diesel truck.

He then attempted to photobomb Spain as they assembled on the winner’s podium. After presenting a trophy to Spanish captain Rodri, Trump stayed on the stage as the team celebrated their victory, and loitered next to the players.

Talk show icon Oprah Winfrey has revealed the motivation behind her iconic catchphrase “You get a car!” Winfrey, 72, screamed the sentence repeatedly during a 2004 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she gave away 276 cars, worth over $7 million. In a new Vanity Fair interview, Winfrey explained that before she uttered the now-famous phrase, the show had already given out 11 cars to members of the studio audience, who believed only one car remained to be won. At the time, each audience member had been given a gift box which contained a car key. “Everybody was thinking they were gonna be that one person,” Winfrey told Vanity Fair of the belief that only 12 cars were being given away. The host then recalled seeing one audience member finding a key in her box who thought she was the final winner. “And then someone next to her said, `No, I got it. I got it,’” Winfrey said. “So I thought we’re gonna have pandemonium with everybody thinking, `No, I’m the one that got it.’” Winfrey explained she was screaming, “You get a car! You get a car!” while pointing to the audience “because they were screaming so loud. Nobody could hear what I was saying.” She eventually clarified, “Everybody gets a car!” The billionaire then took the audience members outside to see their new 2005 Pontiac G6 sedans wrapped with giant red bows. Winfrey labeled the moment “so fun.”

Troy Jackson, the 58-year-old progressive and former candidate for governor, hasn’t formally acquired his party’s nomination following Graham Platner’s exit, since that will be decided at a state convention on Saturday. But he is on track do so, after his delegates—selected at county meetings last weekend—far outnumber those of others in the race, the New York Times reports.

If Jackson indeed becomes the nominee, he’ll start the general election campaign in a good position.

Staff in Bill Gates’ eponymous foundation repeatedly warned the philanthropist about engaging with Jeffrey Epstein, an external review has found.

A law firm tasked by the Gates Foundation to look into Gates’ and others’ interactions with the now-dead sex offender issued a report on Tuesday, based on over 50 interviews with current and former staffers of the Microsoft co-founder’s charitable foundation.

A summary of the report by WilmerHale found that Gates, 70, was aware of concerns by staffers about discussing business matters with Epstein.

Iconic 1987 cult hit film RoboCop is being rebooted for the small screen by Amazon Prime. Variety reports that Amazon has ordered an initial eight episodes, with Michael Miner and Ed Neumeier, the co-creators and co-writers of the original film, on board as executive producers. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, the influential 1987 sci-fi film is set in a future version of Detroit where cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is murdered by criminals and revived as a cyborg law enforcer. In the Amazon RoboCop, “a giant tech conglomerate convinces the city to place a powerful robot on its police force–a robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer.” Amazon has been developing a new RoboCop since acquiring the MGM studio catalog and IP in 2022. Praised as one of the greatest sci-fi films of the 1980s, the original spawned RoboCop 2 in 1990 and RoboCop 3 in 1993, as well as a remake in 2014 which grossed $242.6 million despite mixed reviews. There have also been two animated versions of RoboCop aimed at children and two live-action shows, as well as video games and comic books as part of the franchise. Co-creator of Saw, James Wan, will serve as executive producer for Amazon Prime. “I’ve been a massive fan of RoboCop forever, so getting to help bring this world to television is a dream,” Wan said. Stating the 1987 original was “decades ahead of its time,” Wan said, “questions about technology, identity, and who corporations really serve have only grown more urgent.” As yet, there is no official release date for the reboot.

Donald Trump’s looming lame duck era will not only see Congress as an adversary but also GOP presidential hopefuls like JD Vance distancing themselves from him, his biographer says.

Author Michael Wolff said on the Inside Trump’s Head podcast that the 80-year-old Trump will have to face two realities after the November midterms. In Congress, he said, Democrats are expected to regain power of the House, which threatens to make his life miserable.

Congress “will become an incredible noose around his neck, a burden on his shoulders,” Wolff told co-host Joanna Coles. “They will do everything possible to frustrate him and to humiliate him and to make him pay for being Donald Trump. And that may be good politics or bad politics. That’s unclear because they’ve done this before and it turned out to be actually probably bad politics.”

Singer-songwriter Ben Folds, the former artistic adviser to the National Symphony Orchestra, spoke out against Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center, where the Symphony is housed, citing a “new partisan toxic environment” that politicizes any affiliated artists.

“These days, if an artist agrees to perform at the Kennedy Center, they risk being seen as explicitly endorsing the Trump administration and all of its policies,” Folds said at a public congressional forum on the Trump Administration’s cuts to arts funding on Tuesday. “Declining an invitation to perform at the Kennedy Center will have an equal and opposite political effect.”

Donald Trump has been called out for bizarrely comparing the number of U.S. troops killed in his war with Iran to those who died in conflicts as far back as the Korean War.

Three U.S. service members were killed in Iranian attacks on U.S. military bases in Jordan and Iraq over the weekend after Trump’s negotiations with Tehran failed, raising the death toll among U.S. troops in the four-month-old war to at least 17. Another U.S. soldier is unaccounted for.

Two of those killed in Jordan have been identified as Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton, Texas, who was 19 years old, and First Lt. Tyler James Feehan of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, who was 25. Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, N.C., was killed in Iraq.

Jimmy Nichols, the keyboardist and musical director who worked with some of country music’s biggest stars, has died at 64. Nichols died in his sleep on July 10, his wife, Tonya Cochran Ginnetti, announced on his Facebook page. No cause of death was disclosed. “He so loved making music with his Nashville family,” Ginnetti wrote. “I don’t have any words right now.” Raised in Columbus, Ohio, Nichols learned piano at age 9 before forming The Nichols Brothers with his siblings. The group toured for more than two decades with artists including Eddie Rabbitt, Willie Nelson and The Osmond Brothers before eventually settling in Nashville. Over his career, Nichols became one of Music City’s most sought-after musicians, serving as Reba McEntire’s musical director and pianist for five years and later directing Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s Soul2Soul II world tour. He also performed with Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Lee Ann Womack, Elton John and Gladys Knight. His longtime collaborator David Pack said Nichols gave his final performance at a church service in Franklin, Tennessee, the night before his death. Just weeks earlier, Nichols had been inducted into the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame. A celebration-of-life concert is scheduled for September 2 in Nashville.

The Mexican man who was struck and killed while fleeing ICE agents in Florida this month was in the United States on a valid tourist visa while on vacation, one advocacy group said.

Juan Jairo Coronilla Duran, 28, had a valid tourist visa when he was killed on July 14, Orlando-based nonprofit Colectivo Árbol told the Miami Herald on Tuesday. The Department of Homeland Security has not publicly released Duran’s identity.

The father of two was killed after he allegedly tried to escape from agents in a gas station parking lot by running into the street, where he was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer. His death on July 14 was the third immigration enforcement-related death in the span of a week.

France has become the first country in the European Union to ban children under 15 from using social media after lawmakers overwhelmingly approved the measure on Tuesday. The legislation, championed by French President Emmanuel Macron, is expected to take effect when the new school year begins this fall after he signs it into law. Macron hailed the vote on X, declaring that “social media will be banned for children under 15 starting this school year,” and has argued that children’s brains and emotions “are not for sale” to tech platforms and their recommendation algorithms. The law also prohibits advertising social media to children (including promotions by influencers), and requires ads for social platforms to carry the warning: “Dangerous products for children under 15.” France’s digital regulator, Arcom, will oversee enforcement, though officials have yet to explain exactly how platforms will verify users’ ages. The move follows similar restrictions introduced in Australia and planned measures in several other countries, but makes France the first member of the European Union to enact such a ban.

The son of NHL legend Claude Lemieux, 60, told police that his father had relapsed into sex addiction before he died by suicide.

Police body camera footage, obtained by The California Post, shows Brendan Lemieux speaking with Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies on May 28 after discovering his father’s body at the family’s home-design business in Lake Park, Florida.

“Long story short, my mom finds out that he’s not sober anymore,” Brendan told officers. “And that’s what triggered this tonight.”

Karović said the incident has left him “at rock bottom” mentally and struggling to function, while his injuries, including damage to his head, eye, ear, burns, and temporary paralysis on one side of his body, have left him uncertain whether he will ever fully recover. The pro-Trump lettuce farmer Taylor Farms has deleted a social media post that attempted to distance itself from the ongoing “explosive diarrhea” parasite outbreak.

Taylor Farms had originally said it was “voluntarily removing” its iceberg lettuce grown in central Mexico because it had been linked to cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness caused by the parasite.

“While the FDA traceback is indicating a specific independent farm, which represents less than 1% of the U.S.’s iceberg lettuce supply, as the potential source of the outbreak, we have removed all iceberg lettuce from the region indefinitely,” the company said in a statement.

An Army veteran is suing Taco Bell, lettuce supplier Taylor Farms and the franchise operator of an Ohio restaurant after he says a parasite-contaminated meal left him hospitalized for two days during what was supposed to be his summer vacation.

David Ott, who served 27 years in the U.S. Army, says he ate Taco Supremes from a Taco Bell in Youngstown, Ohio, on June 18 and June 20 before falling violently ill. According to the lawsuit, Ott developed excruciating abdominal pain, severe gas and bloating, nausea, headaches, dizziness, a low-grade fever and what he described as “explosive watery diarrhea.”

His wife rushed him to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center on June 22, where he underwent a CT scan, colonoscopy and extensive blood and stool testing. Doctors eventually confirmed he had contracted cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness caused by Cyclospora. Ott was hospitalized for two days before being discharged with a prescription for the antibiotic Bactrim.

Directed by Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’s Josh Greenbaum, and starring Jake Johnson, Ed Harris, and the incomparable Mary Steenburgen, who’s never failed to improve a ridiculous affair such as this, The Dink (July 24, Apple TV) is a throwback whose main purpose is mocking, and then embracing, the absurdity of pickleball.

Its ambitions are modest, and its humor is uneven (to put it generously). Still, with a likable cast and a winningly lighthearted spirit, it’s a film fit for a casual Friday night on the couch.

President Donald Trump is poised to unleash fresh tariffs on dozens of countries as soon as this week, according to the Financial Times.

U.S. officials have prepared options allowing Trump to launch new tariffs on dozens of countries as the president’s 10 percent global duties expire later this week, the Times reported, citing people briefed on the plans.

Trump has already shown he isn’t slowing down on tariffs elsewhere, unveiling a 50 percent levy on Canadian goods and a 25 percent tariff on Brazilian imports. The fresh push comes after the Supreme Court struck down the reciprocal tariffs put in place under Trump’s “liberation day” announcement in April 2025.

A grandfather who was violently launched into the air by a charging bison at Yellowstone National Park has spoken out about the horrifying ordeal.

Carl Isom-McDaniel, 65, was visiting the park on July 10 with his 13-year-old grandson when he was flipped eight feet into the air by a bison.

Isom-McDaniel was seriously injured in the attack, breaking his femur in four places.

Her father, Joshua Hottle, confirmed the news to TMZ, saying his daughter was involved in a serious crash early Tuesday morning and that officials later told him her heart stopped on the way to the hospital. Joshua Hottle also shared the devastating news in an emotional livestream conducted in American Sign Language, explaining that he was flying from Texas to claim his daughter’s body. Garlic powder jars are being recalled in Canada due to a potential bacterial contamination linked to diarrhea and nausea. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall on July 15 over concerns that Heavenly Spices garlic powder may have been infected with Bacillus cereus. “Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product,” the agency alerted. The bacteria are linked with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pains that can last around two days. If left untreated, Bacillus cereus can spread through the body into different organs. The jars were sold at Dollarama stores throughout Canada, a discount retail chain that sells household goods at fixed prices up to five dollars. The affected products were marked with an identification number of RA-82337.

A United Airlines plane has been forced to land at a military base in Arizona. The 25-year-old jet, which had 160 people onboard, was on its way from Houston to Phoenix when a storm forced the pilot to put it down on a non-commercial runway. Phoenix Sky Harbor had been under a ground stop due to the thunderstorm late Monday, meaning that while planes could take off, many were not allowed to land, 12 News reports. Pilots had to either wait for conditions to clear or find an alternative place to land, and for the United pilot, the best option was Luke Air Force Base in Glendale. The station reports that the Boeing 737 had minimal fuel and was unable to circle, so it was forced to take the unusual step. In a radio conversation with Phoenix air traffic control obtained by 12 News, the pilot is asked how much fuel and how many people are onboard. “OK, we have 160 people onboard… they’re telling me that I cannot land at [nearby airport] Goodyear. Not suitable for our aircraft. Where else would you suggest going, sir?” The controller then ran through the options, saying at one stage, “There’s Luke Air Force Base… but that’s… an Air Force base… if you’re an emergency, you’re an emergency.” The pilot then responds, saying, “Let’s do Luke Air Force Base.”

Missing plane Clipper Endeavor has been found 2,000 feet below sea level. Research by the Discovery Channel used a cutting-edge underwater drone last month to locate the wreck of the doomed Pan Am Flight 256, which went missing after taking off from Puerto Rico in 1952. A total of 69 passengers and crew were flying to what is now JFK Airport in New York City for Good Friday when it lost both of its right engines. Just nine minutes later, the plane went down, and with no pre-flight safety briefing about how to exit the aircraft in an emergency, 52 people lost their lives. Researchers told Today that the wreckage was “really out of reach in 1952, and it really took until now for the technology to catch up and reach down.” The crash has a lasting impact 74 years on, with Today reporting that shortly after, cabin crew safety briefings were introduced at the start of every flight.

Five people have died in a river in Ohio. The group is thought to have drowned after trying to save one person who went for a swim and got into trouble in the Scioto River on Sunday. Authorities said on Monday that they found two women in the water on Sunday who were later pronounced dead in the hospital. The bodies of three men were found the following day. The Guardian reports that authorities were alerted when a motorist found a distraught child on a nearby road. That child and a second youngster, both under the age of 10, have been placed in family services following the incident. Delaware County Sheriff Jeffrey Balzer said the incident occurred in Powell, a suburb of the city of Columbus, and began when one of the group got into the water to swim. “And that’s when the tragedy started to occur,” he said, according to the Guardian, adding that the rest of the group leaped in to help but then also got into trouble.

Donald Trump’s IRS and Social Security chief allegedly used hi-tech software to spy on emails sent by colleagues during his time as an executive at JPMorgan Chase.

Frank Bisignano, 66, now oversees the two federal agencies that hold financial records on nearly every American taxpayer. The alleged spying, first reported by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, dates to his tenure more than 10 years ago as the group’s co-chief operating officer.

Newly unsealed court documents have revealed disturbing details in relation to the charges against the Trump-aligned misogynist influencers, Andrew and Tristan Tate.

The British-American brothers were arrested in Miami on Saturday after U.K. authorities issued 38 new charges against the pair. The U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew was being charged with seven further counts of rape, as well as charges relating to sex trafficking and indecent images of a child. Tristan’s charges include two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The alleged offenses are said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017. The Tates have previously denied any wrongdoing. They are in the throes of extradition proceedings that could see them forced back to the U.K. On Monday, a judge set their next court hearing for July 27, according to the Associated Press.

Almost a third of passengers aboard a scenic National Geographic cruise off the coast of Alaska have come down with a grim gastrointestinal infection. Health officials at the Centers for Disease Control confirmed Tuesday that 18 of the Sea Bird vessel’s total 62 passengers are suffering from “abdominal cramps” and “vomiting.” It’s the third such outbreak aboard the 152-foot-long vessel in as many months. Officials identified norovirus as the cause of cases during the prior two voyages. The CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program is “remotely monitoring the situation, including review of the ship’s outbreak response and sanitation procedures,” the agency has said. United Airlines is investigating after one of its employees allegedly threatened to call ICE on a customer they accused of not being a U.S. citizen. The exchange allegedly took place at the ticket counter at San Francisco International Airport last week. Julio Varela, 54, an East Bay resident who was trying to correct a name on one of his family member’s tickets so they could board a plane, said the employee was rude and dismissive. He claims he asked for her name so he could report her behavior to the airline. When she refused, he said that he took out his phone to begin recording her. Footage of the incident shows her saying “maybe we should call ICE on you,” before adding that “you don’t act like a citizen. Get away.” The ticket issue was resolved minutes later. Varela has since said that he was “so shocked” and “angry” after the exchange. “It’s intimidating, because my kids didn’t know, you know, if when we get back, are we, am I going to be arrested?” he said. “Is ICE going to be there?” United told CBS News Bay Area it was looking into what happened.

Two American tourists have been stabbed in a knife attack near one of Europe’s most famous tourist attractions. Greek police said a man attacked a Greek-American couple near the entrance to the Acropolis Museum, which sits below the ancient hilltop citadel and its 2,500-year-old Parthenon temple. The woman suffered minor injuries, while the man was more seriously wounded and taken to a hospital by ambulance. Jaw-dropping video captured the moment bright sparks burst from the back of the 21-year-old jet as horrified onlookers watched. One witness can be heard shouting, “Whoa, whoa, whoa!” as the aircraft climbed away. The plane returned and landed safely at about 8:15 p.m. local time. Kalitta Air said no crew members were injured, and the aircraft was pulled from service for inspection. The FAA is investigating the incident.

Investigators have uncovered new details after a body was found inside a Massachusetts home owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley. According to an incident report obtained by TMZ, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the person died from a single gunshot wound. The manner of death remains pending, and the victim’s identity has not been released. The body was discovered at a two-story, seven-bedroom home owned by Conan Harris, Pressley’s husband. Boston police homicide detectives are investigating, and the report lists the suspect as unknown. TMZ reported that authorities found “absolutely nothing” indicating any connection between the death investigation and the property owners. Police say officers responded after receiving a walk-in report about a person who had been shot and was still inside the home. After sweeping the property, officers located the body near a bedroom, and emergency responders pronounced the person dead at the scene. A spokesperson for Pressley told People the property is a rental home and that the progressive congresswoman is not the landlord. Harris said his family is safe and offered condolences to the victim’s relatives.

Comedian Whitney Cummings says Donald Trump’s Kennedy Center goons cut a brutal joke she made about the president before footage of it hits Netflix.

Cummings, 43, made the joke about Trump, 80, at the Kennedy Center on June 28, when comedian and TV host Bill Maher, 70, was being honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

As the Daily Beast reported, at the end of her appearance, Cummings made a reference to Trump’s connections to late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Gutfeld, 61, couldn’t resist talking about the 36-year-old New York Democrat’s body after a speech she gave in which she used the word “behind” several times in rapid succession.

“We cannot afford to leave Tennessee behind. We cannot afford to leave Kentucky behind, Alabama behind, Mississippi behind, Georgia behind, South Carolina behind,” Ocasio-Cortez said Friday in Memphis at a rally for congressional candidate Justin Pearson.

Peter Lassally, who became known as the “host whisperer” for guiding some of late-night’s biggest stars, has died at 93. Lassally, a Holocaust survivor, worked with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, David Letterman on Late Show, and Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show. He died Sunday of natural causes at a memory care facility in Los Angeles, his son, Tom Lassally, told The Hollywood Reporter. Lassally joined Carson on NBC’s The Tonight Show in 1969 and produced the talk show until Carson’s final broadcast in 1992, after which he became executive producer for Letterman. He also became executive producer of The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder until 1999 and mentored Jon Stewart. He came out of retirement in 2004 to oversee The Late Late Show with Ferguson. Lassally was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1932 to a Jewish family. After fleeing to Amsterdam, Lassally, his mother, and his sister were imprisoned in two concentration camps from 1943 to 1945. His family moved to New York City after the war, and Lassally graduated from high school in Queens. “When Johnny Carson and David Letterman needed counsel and an honest opinion, they immediately went to Peter Lassally, the professor of late night,” NBC said in a statement. “His relationship to each of these giants was immeasurable, and both of them would undoubtedly say his contribution to their success was so impactful that it would be difficult to put in words. [He was] a quiet man whose influence and stature spoke volumes; his brilliance was in shaping what we watch, how we watch and why late night was, and remains, vitally significant.”

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung took an eyebrow-raising approach when replying to Richard Gere after the actor called out the Trump administration.

On Monday, Cheung found the time to post about Gere criticizing the White House for effectively shuttering the U.S. Agency for International Development, which studies show has improved global health through a variety of means.

The Pentagon did not disclose injuries suffered by dozens of U.S. troops in Jordan by Iran earlier this month, according to a report that a Pentagon spokesperson furiously denied at length.

The New York Times reported Monday on the damage done by Iran’s strikes against U.S. troops stationed in Jordan in the days before its deadly attack on Friday that killed two soldiers and left another missing. According to the paper, the Pentagon did not disclose Iran’s earlier strikes or the dozens of injuries they caused.

U.S. Central Command, in statements last week, said the U.S. was retaliating for Iranian strikes on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Central Command did not mention Iran’s strikes in Jordan.

A man accused of setting a fire outside a federal building in New York City on Monday morning was an Army veteran who carried anti-ICE materials, officials said.

Andrew Arrabaca, 43, was arrested on Monday in connection with the incident, said James Barnacle, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s New York Field Office, during a press conference Monday afternoon.

Barnacle said that Arrabaca had poured gasoline on the ground outside the employee entrance of 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan before setting it ablaze with a lighter and a “large firework in a canister.” He added that Arrabaca pulled out an airsoft rifle and fired several plastic pellets.

Rising Democratic star Jon Ossoff has eviscerated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over his funding cuts, saying the health secretary left Americans vulnerable to the fast-spreading “explosive diarrhea” parasite.

In a scathing letter, the Georgia senator, 39, accused Kennedy, 72, of a “foolish and self-indulgent demolition” of the CDC’s Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network, which had tracked the diarrhea-causing Cyclospora parasite until its surveillance was reduced from eight to just two pathogens in July 2025.

“And now a cyclosporiasis outbreak sweeps the nation,” Ossoff told Kennedy. “Your foolish and self-indulgent demolition of critical public health programs puts Americans at risk.”
