Not to be outdone by U2’s Spider-Man stage show, Coldplay has gone one step further and adapted Game of Thrones as a musical.
Actually, they did it for Red Nose Day, Comic Relief UK's benefit for impoverished children that has finally made its way to the United States.
In a mockumentary narrated by Liam Neeson, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and drummer Will Champion toil through creating the musical based on the controversial HBO juggernaut. It’s only partly a gag, as the band really did write songs like “Rastafarian Targaryen” and “Closer to Home,” an uncomfortable incest-tinged ballad from Jaime Lannister’s point of view. There’s even a song about the infamous Red Wedding.
Much of the cast make appearances in the clip, and not just current players. Mark Addy and Rose Leslie—the late Robert Baratheon and wildling Ygritte, respectively—join in as well. Death may come for anyone at any time in George R.R. Martin’s world but that won’t stop them from singing.
