Sandro Miller is a photographic and video artist with a special sensitivity and mastery of studio lighting. Across the 45 years he’s photographed, the key component has always been experience—his or from the work of others who taught him via books, exhibitions, public programs, and lectures. He was inspired by the work of Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Walker Evans, Lewis Hine, Yousaf Karsh, Dorothea Lange, Irving Penn, Sebastião Salgado, August Sander, Fazal Sheikh, Victor Skrebneski and Albert Watson, among many. His work has been features in the books American Bikers, Imagine Cuba, El Matador Joselito: A Pictorial Novel, Sandro Raw, Steppenwolf, Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to the Photographic Masters, Crowns: My Hair My Soul My Freedom, and Death in the Desert.
