Drug trafficking has become a major problem in Afghanistan in the years since the United States’ 2001 invasion. The state is the world’s largest producer of opium, with farmers producing $1 billion worth of crops in 2013. Eventually, their output is worth five times that much to those who transport it globally.

It’s a serious issue, but you’d have no idea watching this bit of coverage. This BBC reporter decided to stand a bit too close to a burning pile of confiscated narcotics, and got a mean case of the giggles for his trouble.
