        C. difficile hides in plain sight, with asymptomatic infections common. Since traditional antibiotic treatments have high failure rates, scientists are working to develop vaccines.

        C. difficile, or CDI, is drug resistant, prevalent nearly everywhere, and prone to causing recurrence. These three conditions make a vaccine a potentially effective treatment to reduce c. difficile infections.
