Carrie Ann Inaba
After Gilles Marini did a sexy dance on Monday’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, judge Carrie Ann Inaba found herself falling for the actor—literally. After the performance, she wiggled around in her seat and yelled, “Let the baby making begin!” But the excitement proved to be too much for Inaba, who slid off her chair and fell to the floor. Luckily, she and the rest of the crew were able to laugh the blunder off, and host Tom Bergeron joked, “When you said ‘Let the baby making begin,’ I didn’t think you’d get in position!”
Madonna
Even at 54, Madonna is still playing sold-out shows all over the world and hasn’t missed a step. That is, until she recently slipped and fell during a show in Dallas. During a performance of “Like a Prayer,” the star walked to the edge of the stage and greeted some excited fans. But when she kneeled down to shake some hands, she lost her footing and fell on her back. Madonna quickly turned her stumble into a dance move and continued on with the show.
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber is no stranger to on-stage blunders, as the young pop star recently vomited during a show in Arizona earlier this month. His most recent awkward moment came when he fell in the middle of a duet with Carly Rae Jepsen during a concert in Canada. Toward the end of the song “Beautiful,” the two met in the middle of the stage and began walking down some stairs, but Bieber missed a step and fell on his butt. Ever professional, he quickly got back up and continued to sing as if nothing had happened. Well done, Bieber!
Shania Twain
The Country Music Television awards’ most memorable moments on Wednesday night were not Lady Antebellum’s performance or Justin Bieber’s surprising win—but the accidents that happened in between the big numbers and envelope opening. Shania Twain tripped and fell while presenting the Male Video of the Year award to Blake Shelton, and Sheryl Crow also had a mishap, accidentally revealing her underwear.
Kirstie Alley
DWTS fan favorite Kirstie Alley took a tumble of her own last year after partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s thigh “gave out.” He immediately motioned to the judges that the mistake was his fault, but Alley didn’t seem fazed by the slip—she went on delivering a performance the judges later called “better than ever” and “stronger” than her pre-fall routine. In this case, the embarrassing stumble may have bettered her score.
Joe Jonas
Say what you will about his incredibly tight pants and flat-ironed hair, but middle Jonas brother, Joe, then 18, proved he had quite the tough exterior at the 2007 American Music Awards. Just before singing the hit Jonas Brothers single “S.O.S.” to a crowd full of prepubescent girls about “walking on broken glass,” Jonas tripped and fell on the broken glass that came down when he and his brothers emerged on stage. Much like the next lyric in the song—“better believe I bled”—a closer look showed that Jonas’s palm was seriously injured. “After the performance I got back to the dressing room. Someone said, ‘Joe, you’re bleeding!’” he recalled on the group’s blog. “I had felt some pain but had no idea that there was so much blood. I noticed that my white suit had blood on the knees.” It was indeed an S.O.S.
Jennifer Lopez
Celebrities, they’re just like us! They climb atop bare-chested men in a boxing ring—and sometimes they fall down and go boom. Luckily, J.Lo recovered quickly from her stumble during a live performance at the 2009 American Music Awards. Not so luckily for the pop star, it was all people were talking about the next day.
Mariah Carey
A crisis was averted on the short-lived Jay Leno Show in 2009 after Mariah Carey stumbled in her strappy sandals—but managed to catch herself before wiping out. As one might expect, the incident provided much fodder for conversation.
Steven Tyler
Don’t walk this way! At an Aerosmith concert in South Dakota in 2009, 61-year-old frontman Steven Tyler took a tumble off the stage and into the crowd. Talk about livin’ on the edge.
Bret Michaels
There’s chewing the scenery, and then there’s letting the scenery chew you, as Bret Michaels did at the 2009 Tony awards. After performing Poison’s “Nothin’ but a Good Time” with the cast of the musical Rock of Ages during the opening medley, Michaels missed his mark by a second and nearly got decapitated by a descending backdrop.
Drake
After seemingly half the state of New Jersey got arrested in a black-market organ-ring bust in the summer of 2009, the Garden State claimed another victim: Canadian rapper Drake, who fell during a concert in Camden and reinjured his knee. “All is well … on the bus laying down … getting surgery this week but I’m walking,” he tweeted afterward.
Rachel Smith
At the Miss Universe 2007 pageant, Miss USA, Rachel Smith, tripped over her hem during the evening-gown competition. At least she didn’t start talking about maps.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry dove headfirst into a giant cake (and liked it?) during the 2008 MTV Latin America Awards. The slippery icing prevented the “Hot N Cold” singer from making a graceful exit.
Kelsey Grammer
Paging Dr. Crane! During a 2005 speech at Disneyland, Kelsey Grammer fell off the stage. “I think I’m OK,” the dapper actor assured worried audience members.
Beyoncé
Proof that Beyoncé Knowles is the consummate performer: the R&B diva made her onstage tumble at an Orlando concert look like a hot new dance move.
Michelle Williams
Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s fellow Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams lost a heel during a BET performance and her bandmates danced on without her. Ouch.
Bob Dole
Sure, Bob Dole’s 1996 header into a crowd of journalists while on the campaign trail probably didn’t outright torpedo his presidential chances, but it didn’t help. Then again, at least it gave us something besides those ED ads to remember the senator by.
Models at Hérvé Leger
Hérvé Leger’s Spring 2009 collection may have been all about the bandage dress, but Fall was all about the bandaged ankle. Designer Max Azria blamed slick catwalks for the three separate model spills—not the six-inch heels.
Sarah Welch
After a Shaolin monk broke a hole in the runway at the Shadang fashion show during the 2007 L.A. Fashion Week, former Bachelor contestant Sarah Welch fell through it and into the swimming pool below, adding insult to injury after her rose ceremony snub.
‘Helen Keller’
One young actress playing Helen Keller in an amateur production of The Miracle Worker got a little too Method by keeping her eyes closed onstage. Great idea in theory, until you forget where the edge of the stage is.
