The U.S. is growing older and more racially diverse, according to the Census Bureau. Thanks to the aging baby boom generation, the median age of Americans rose nationally to 38 years from 35 years between 2016 and 2000. Meanwhile, every racial and ethnic group grew between 2015 and 2016. According to the Census data, the number of people who identify as white increased at the slowest rate: less than one hundredth of 1 percent.
