President-elect Donald Trump has finally booked a Hall of Fame-level performer for his inaugural events. Sam Moore, one half of famed soul duo Sam and Dave, was added to the lineup for the “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration,” following the exit of Jennifer Holliday in response to backlash from the gay and black communities. The 81-year-old singer, best known for singing “Hold On, I’m Comin’” and “Soul Man,” told the Associated Press that, unlike Holliday, he won't cave to critics of his scheduled appearance: “I am not going to let them, the left side, intimidate me from doing what I feel is the right thing to do for the country and that [presidential] seal.” Moore also expressed admiration for the president-elect. “He’s got a big mouth, like me,” the singer said. “Whether you agree with him or not, he’s going to say what’s on his mind.” He encouraged people to “give the man a shot,” adding, “He hasn’t even said ‘I do’ yet. Give him a chance. If you don’t like him after four years, then don’t vote for him next time.” Moore will appear with Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Lee Greenwood during Thursday’s televised event, taking place at the Lincoln Memorial.
