On Monday the family of Bettie Jones, the 55-year-old Chicago grandmother killed by police on December 26, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city. Jones and 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier were shot to death by an officer responding to a domestic disturbance call. According to the suit, Jones opened the door to the police and then “faced a hail of bullets being fired by an on-duty Chicago Police Department officer at and in the direction of her home and her, with bullets going through the doorway, and through the walls of her home." The suit also alleges that when Jones's daughter asked for help from the cop, he told her "her mother was dead and she needed to 'get over it.'" The Chicago police department has admitted that the shooting of Jones was "accidental."
