Garry Marshall, the creator of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and director of countless films, died Tuesday. He was 81. A New York City native, Marshall had directed, produced, and starred in films and TV shows since the late 1950s—his biggest hits including the popular sitcoms about the 1950s, its spinoff Mork & Mindy, as well as films like Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries. His death was confirmed by Access Hollywood late Tuesday night. According to his publicist, Marshall died of complications from pneumonia following a stroke.
