Hurricane Dorian has been downgraded to a Category 2 storm after stalling over the Bahamas, but has begun to move again while expanding in size. The National Hurricane Center said Tuesday morning that the storm is beginning to move slowly northwest at 2 mph and is “dangerously close” to the Florida coast, though it is not expected to make landfall. Despite deceasing in maximum intensity, it is growing in size with hurricane-force winds extending out 60 miles from the center of the storm and tropical-storm-force-winds extending out 175 miles. The storm is then predicted to move turn north Wednesday night, threatening the Georgia and South Carolina coasts Thursday and Friday. Dorian is still considered dangerous for the Florida coast with sustained winds hovering around 110 mph. According to Bahamian officials, the storm is responsible for the deaths of at least five people.
