The president of the International Olympic Committee says he had “very open and fruitful” talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after a rare meeting between the two in Pyongyang. IOC head Thomas Bach told reporters North Korea plans to send teams to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The IOC, he said, “will continue to support the athletes from DPRK to prepare well” for the upcoming games. Amid thawing tensions, the IOC also hopes to propose a “potential joint march” and other shared activities between the South and North Korean teams competing in Tokyo in 2020. Bach arrived in the notoriously isolated country on Thursday following an invitation from Kim in January.
