Who says bipartisanship is dead? As lawmakers waited for President Obama to sell his job creation plan on Thursday night, Speaker John Boehner and Vice President Joe Biden had a few moments to shoot the breeze behind the podium. Certain to avoid talking politics in front of the hypersensitive cameras, Boehner opted for the more germane. Caught by a hot mic, he mentioned his latest golf conquest—a 67—to which Biden responded with a polite "That's incredible." Not one to be outdone, Biden then pointed up toward the gallery. “That’s my wife,” he proudly told the bronzed speaker, gesturing toward Jill Biden.
Proving wrong the adage that Democrats and Republicans never agree on anything, Boehner responded, “Cutest one in the row by far.”
From there we see Biden start to crack up—perhaps caught off guard by the unexpected compliment. Or perhaps because he finally realized how to win over the powerful Republican.
