NYFW’s Riot of Invention: Alessandro Trincone, Reconstruct, Telfar, and Badgley Mischka

Faster, Smarter

Alessandro Trincone’s designs only look outlandish if you can’t see the joy in a feathery bonnet (of course you can). Telfar, Reconstruct, and Badgley Mischka had different drama.

Telfar

Part of the charm of a Telfar fashion show is not knowing whether or not you’ll get in. Though it looked rough for the hypebeasts who waited over an hour in line outside of Irving Plaza, their patience ultimately paid off. Designer Telfar Clemens gave fans his version of a country theme, teaming up with playwright Jeremy O. Harris to turn a rock stage into a runway, where models crowd surfed rather than walked.

Telfar’s fall collection drew heavily from its western inspiration, with a buckskin palette, many bootcut jeans, and ample fringe on coats and pants. After the trust-falls-gone-fashion, hardcore hip hop group H09909 took the stage, further animating the crowd. Perhaps for the first time in the history of fashion week, the runway became a mosh pit. Though Telfar’s unisex line has been around in some form or another since 2004, his latest collection proves the CFDA Award Winner‘s star continues to rise. Alaina Demopoulos
