Michael Phelps won the 200-meter butterfly at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials Wednesday, clearing the way for his fifth Olympic Games. Phelps, who boasts 18 golds out of his total 22 medals, conceded that the win had taken on more significance for him given his very public fall from grace in recent years. “With everything that’s happened, being able to come back—this was probably harder than any swim I’ve had in my life,” Phelps told reporters after his victory. The swimmer was busted for a DUI in late 2014 and he then checked himself into rehab. He is the first male swimmer ever to make it onto five Olympic teams.
