Is there some sort of condescending mansplainning asshole exam required for GOP membership these days? If so, Rep. Jason Chaffetz must have scored in the 99th percentile. Putting these dubious skills to use, Chaffetz repeatedly interrupted and cut off Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards during her House Oversight Committee testimony while she attempted to respond to his own skewed facts and leading questions.
After casually misrepresenting mammograms as the most effective method of breast cancer screening, Chaffetz pulls up a cartoonish graph, supposedly constructed from Planned Parenthood’s corporate report, that shows cancer screening and prevention services exponentially declining over time and abortions performed exponentially increasing.
Richards totally shuts this down, pointing out the numbers are actually from an anti-abortion group. To which a stuttering Chaffetz replies, “Then we will get to th… To the bottom of the truth of that.”
Nice comeback.
