Prince Harry The Pygmy Hippos Dies
A sad end for cute pygmy hippo Prince Harry, who died on the operating table today, according to a statement issued by Cango Wildlife Ranch in South Africa.
Prince Harry, a friendly creature of limited intelligence, was having an op to repair an umbilical hernia.
"Unfortunately at the conclusion of the operation he went into respiratory arrest and ultimately heart failure,' the wildlife ranch said in a statement, "In Harry’s short life, he managed to raise much needed awareness for his species. He was an extremely happy little hippo."
Pygmy hippos are a distinct sub-species to their larger cousins the common hippopotamus. The reclusive animals grow to just three feet tall, live largely underwater and generally emerge only at night to eat leaves and grass. They are severely endangered.
