The local paper in the French city of Nice is reporting that the driver of a truck that plowed into holiday crowds watching Bastille Day fireworks, killing 80, is a local man of Tunisian origin. According to Nice-Matin, the man behind the wheel—who reportedly fired on the crowd as he drove his truck through throngs of pedestrians—was 31 years old. No name has been released, and French authorities have not yet confirmed the paper’s report. France 24 also reported that identity papers belonging to a Franco-Tunisian man were apparently found in the vehicle. Counterterrorism authorities are taking over the investigation, as French President François Hollande mourned, “Horror has struck again in France.”
