‘Strongest Storm Ever’ Makes Landfall

Hurricane Patricia, officially the strongest storm ever measured, has made landfall on the west coast of Mexico. The storm may cause 39-foot waves and is expected to have wind gusts up to 235 mph. Millions of residents along the Pacific Ocean have been told to prepare for the “worst-case scenario” including “life-threatening flash floods and mudslides.”

Upon landfall in the western Mexican state of Jalisco, the storm measured 165 mph winds. Approximately 400,000 people live in the most vulnerable areas.

Shortly after landfall, the storm was downgraded from a Category 5 to Category 4, but will continue to wreak havoc into the night.
