President Trump will hold a private meeting with California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher in the Oval Office on Tuesday, according to CNN’s Phil Mattingly, who cited the White House. It’s not clear what exactly the two will discuss, but Rohrabacher, often called “Putin’s favorite congressman” for his outspoken support for the Kremlin, has engaged in his own questionable brand of diplomacy in recent months. After his failed bid to become Trump’s secretary of State, Rohrabacher met with French far-right leader Marine Le Pen, Congolese strongman Denis Sassou Nguesso, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in February. In January, Rohrabacher had also announced plans for an “official trip” to meet with Russian lawmakers in Moscow in February, though a date was never set. His meeting with Trump comes as the president’s administration faces increasing scrutiny over links to Russia, with several former and current members of Trump’s team facing questioning as part of an ongoing FBI investigation into Russia’s alleged election interference.
