President Trump may be preparing for one of the most important sit-downs of his presidency when he meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, but he’s still found time to repeatedly plug his luxury golf resort in Scotland at press conferences this week, The New York Times reports. On Saturday, amid calls from lawmakers to call off his meeting with Putin following a federal indictment against 12 Russian intelligence officers, Trump took to Twitter to gush about the “incredible” Trump Turnberry resort where he’d be spending the weekend. The resort has gotten special recognition from the president in a slew of public appearances this past week, a move that has alarmed ethics experts. At a news conference in Brussels earlier this week, the president was asked for his thoughts about Brexit but instead veered off track and mentioned Turnberry, which he described as “magical.” He brought up the resort again during a news conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday. “I view this as kind of a forced subsidy of an infomercial for his properties,” Norman L. Eisen, the chairman of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, told The New York Times on Friday. “He’s attempting to utilize his trip to get beneficial P.R.”
