It’s hot chocolate and pumpkin latte season, but you may find more calories than comfort in some favorite fall drinks. The Daily Beast ranks the worst for your waist.
As we’ve written before, limited-run restaurant options can be dangerous for the diet-conscious consumer. But a seasonal swill of hot chocolate or a spiced latte can also come with a shocking amount of fat and calories. For an entire day’s worth of saturated fat, try a Turtle Mocha from Caribou Coffee. Or, for more calories and sugar than two Snickers bars, order a Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.
To compile the list of the 25 most fattening fall drinks, The Daily Beast gathered nutritional information for limited-run seasonal beverages or favorite hot drink options from chain coffee houses. We considered the calories, saturated fat, carbohydrates and sugar for each drink, and calculated the final rank based on the nutritional information on a per-ounce basis. In other words, ounce for ounce, these are the unhealthiest options. Each drink is listed with nutritional information for the largest size available and with the most gluttonous options (whole milk, whipped cream, etc.).
