Lara Friedman, AIPAC, and Iran
On Friday, I highlighted a post by blogger Michael Koplow critical of Zion Square columnist Lara Friedman's recent column, "Don't Prove Walt and Mearsheimer right".
After re-reading Lara's post and Koplow's response, it's clear that his criticism isn't related to the substance of Lara's post. Both Lara and Koplow are saying basically the same thing—that AIPAC and the organized Jewish community already publicly "own" the effort to sell war with Iran. What Koplow was actually critiquing was the title of Lara's piece and the thesis it implies - i.e., that some action could still be taken to avoid the Jewish organizational world being associated with this effort. That title was chosen by us at Zion Square, not Lara, and so Koplow’s beef is with us, not her. We regret having suggested otherwise.
