Romney Wins the Land of Lincoln

This is spooky: a map of the counties won by Mitt Romney & Rick Santorum in the Illinois primary of 2012 almost exactly tracks the map of the counties won by Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas in the elections of 1858 and 1860.
When Rick Santorum in his rambling concession speech called 2012 the most important election since 1860, I wonder if he realized that—by the counties at least—he's on the wrong side?
