Obama Slow Jams the News
Discussing interest rates on student loans is well, boring. So, when President Obama stopped by Late Night, he and Jimmy Fallon decided to spice up the topic with a soulful song. By nailing this slow jam, Obama proved once and for all that the POTUS can hang with the cool kids.
Nothing soothes a crying baby like a little loving from Obama. While greeting people outside of the White House, Michelle Obama unsuccessfully tried to calm a very upset baby. That’s when the president stepped in. Watch the toddler’s tears disappear when she is safe in the arms of the commander-in-chief.
Obama Channels Al Green
Swoon. At a fundraising event held at the Apollo Theater, President Obama wowed the audience when he belted out a few lines from the Al Green song “Let’s Stay Together.” The screams from the women in the crowd were reminiscent of “Beatles mania” and officially rocketed Obama to rock-star status.
In a truly badass moment, President Obama addressed the nation on live TV in May 2011 to reveal the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden. On his order, a covert team of Navy SEALs went into Pakistan to carry out the operation. It was a moment 10 years in the making and even earned Obama praise from his often critical peers across the aisle.
Shoo Fly, Don’t Bother BAM
Let this be a lesson to flies everywhere. During an interview on CNBC, a pesky fly whizzed in front of the president’s face constantly. That’s when the POTUS took matters into his own hands—literally. With one swift ninja movement, Obama swatted the pest with ease, leaving it lifeless on the ground. “That was pretty impressive,” Obama said. “I got the sucka!”
Dancing on Ellen
Forget moves like Mick Jagger, we want moves like Barack Obama! On The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2007, then-Sen. Obama displayed some major hip-shaking action as he walked out on stage. Less than a year later, he won the presidential election. Coincidence? You be the judge!
Osimba! Obama’s Birth Video
At the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Obama showed that he could laugh at himself. After weeks of speculation over the validity of his birth certificate, partially fueled by would-be candidate Donald Trump, the state of Hawaii released Obama’s official document. In an attempt to relieve any remaining doubt, Obama jokingly released his “birth video,” which happened to be the same clip from the opening of The Lion King movie. All we can say is, Hakuna Matata!
Sweet Home Chicago
Obama made his name in Chicago, so it’s only right that he express his gratitude though song. With some gentle encouragement from Mick Jagger and B.B. King, Obama took the mic again to sing a few lines of “Sweet Home Chicago.” If this whole president thing doesn’t work out, we think Obama has a bright future as a recording artist.
Obama’s Hoop Dreams
Is Obama good at everything? While he won’t be suiting up for the NBA anytime soon, Obama has proved time and again that he has a pretty mean jump shot. Watch as the commander-in-chief hits the hardwood in a 3-on-3 tournament with a group of local high school students.
Obama needs no words to show that he’s a great communicator. As the president greeted supporters at an energy policy event, he came in contact with a deaf student. After the teen signed a message to the president, Obama signed back, "Thank you." Now we’re just wondering, what's the sign language for "badass"?
The End of the Iraq War
Nothing is cooler than sticking to your word. And that’s exactly what President Obama did when he announced the official end of the Iraq war late last year. In front of an audience of soldiers, Obama made the announcement from Fort Bragg, N.C. “On behalf of a grateful nation, I’m glad to say these two words,” Obama announced. “Welcome home.”
