Vidal Sassoon, Zionist Icon

A friend in Texas writes:
The death of Vidal Sassoon didn’t get a huge amount of attention, but he was a remarkable man in so many ways. Abandoned by his father, he grew up in a Jewish orphanage in the East End. Became a strong Zionist and fought in the Israeli War of independence, remaining a strong supporter of Israel to the end. Learned to cut hair during the Blitz. Here’s a great interview with him.
And for those of you who grew up watching US television in the 1970s, you certainly recall this commercial. Cheers.
