Obama: Who Knew There Were Poles in Chicago?

One final comment on the president's "Polish death camp" line:
Isn't it remarkable that such a mistake could have passed through the review process of an administration where—not only the president, but his top political advisers too—are all from Chicago, the capital of Polish America? Yet there was apparently nobody in the speech-vetting process capable of correcting an error maximally obnoxious to the largest European ethnic group in the president's home town.
Imagine a president from New York City referring to Tel Aviv as the largest city in Palestine. Or a president from Miami praising Fidel Castro's healthcare and literacy programs. Impossible, right? I wonder what Rahm Emanuel thinks of all this.
