Just days after her husband got out of hospital, it seems the Queen is now the one in the wars. She sported a very bloodshot left eye as she watched polo players take to the field for the Cartier Queen’s Cup Final, in Surrey yesterday.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman declined to say how the Queen hurt her eye.

The event drew a number of celebrities to the crowd, including burlesque star Dita Von Teese.

The Queen, 86, was also accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, who has returned to royal duties after leaving hospital following treatment for a bladder infection.
