With just one day to go until the Olympic’s opening ceremony, the Young Royals kept sport front and centre today when they visited a charity their foundation supports which provides sports coaching to children.

Kate hit new heights of austerity chic, shunning designer gear for a white and grey dress that cost just £35 from a British Main Street retailer. For once, she didn’t wear LK Bennets, sporting instead a pair of £80 Pied-a-Terre wedges.

Harry and William both wore open-necked blue shirts.

William kicked a ball around, missing a shot at goal, while Kate showed her racket skills on the table-tennis table, prompting her husband to say that, "Wth a tennis racquet or a hockey stick in her hand, Catherine is something to behold - and be aware of."

In a speech afterwards, William said: "Watching me on the football field is never a pretty sight – the expression giraffe on ice springs to mind. However it is marginally less embarrassing than seeing my brother cheat his way to becoming the fastest man on the planet."

Kate also refereed a Judo match.

The Coach Core programme is being piloted by Greenhouse, an organisation that will train 16 to 19-year-olds to become qualified coaches and mentors for their schools and communities.
