Carson City, Nevada: A gunman opened fire killing four and injuring seven at an IHOP.

I remember that I lost a good friend who was always there for his friends and my daughter lost one of her best friends also and I know not a day goes by that we don't think about them.

I remember when it happened.  This was such a horrific summer and fall for Northern Nevada, starting with the Amtrak crash, then the Air Races Accident, then the shooting at the Nugget during Street Vibrations, then this shooting at the IHOP in Carson City, the death of a local sportscaster in a hit and run DUI, and then a wildfire in November.  It was a terrible six months.

Seattle, Washington: Kyle Huff walked into a party and killed six people in the Capitol Hill neighborhood before killing himself.

Lost a loving sweet girl Suzanne. She never had a real chance at life.

Baldwin County, Alabama: A man shot his estranged wife, her current boyfriend, and her boyfriend's grandparents at the grandparent's home, killing the boyfriend and grandparents.

Miramar Beach, Florida:  Chilean students on school break killed in Florida.

how sad that visitors to US met with such an awful death when they came with  high hopes for better things.

Washington, D.C.: Six people were shot on North Capital street.

Is DC. Seems to happen all the time.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida: A man shot seven relatives after spending three hours with them celebrating Thanksgiving. His six-year-old cousin, two sisters (one who was pregnant), and elderly aunt all died from their injuries.

Louisa, Virginia: At least four people were wounded and two killed when someone opened fire over a property dispute.

It happened where I used to work.

Roslyn Heights, New York: A man shot his 17-year-old daughter, estranged wife, and mother-in-law before shooting and killing himself. The shooter had argued with his family earlier in the day over their plan to move away.

I drove past the street it happened on during my daily commute home. I saw the police vehicles and wondered what had happened. Then, I heard about it the next day.

Chardon, Ohio: T.J. Lane has told police that he took a .22 caliber Ruger pistol and a knife to school on Monday and randomly fired 10 shots into a group of students sitting at a table, according to prosecutors.

GUN VIOLENCE NEAR MY HOMETOWN

Athens, Georgia:  A man shot and killed his wife and two men at a local theater group picnic. The gunman returned to his car after the shooting where his children were waiting, dropped them off at a neighbor's, and then fled to an uninhabited area where he killed himself.

A man shot his estranged wife, her(purported)lover,and a bystander outside of a community theater in which they were both active members. Their children were in his car at the time. He then fled, dropping the unharmed children with neighbors, and hid out in the woods in the neighboring town of Bogart, GA. Cadaver dogs found him a couple of weeks later in a self-dug, shallow grave covered by brush and a dryer door, with a self inflicted gunshot would in his head. He had evidently intended to never be found.

Huntsville, Alabama: A professor opened fire 50 minutes into a Biological Sciences Department faculty meeting at the University of Alabama, killing three colleagues and wounding three others. The shooter had a history of violence: she shot and killed her brother in 1986, was possibly involved in an attempted mail bombing, and was convicted of disorderly conduct, and assault and battery in an incident in 2002.

She killed my friend's dad.

Auburn, Alabama: A 22-year-old man opened fire at University Heights apartments off West Longleaf Drive. The shooting left three men dead, including two former Auburn University football players, and three others wounded.

My whole family called me to make sure I was okay; I live down the street from the complex (and have friends who live in the complex), so they wanted to make sure my friends and I were safe.
