Hear the GOP Convention Playlist: Taylor Hicks, 3 Doors Down & More
Curious about what they’re rocking out to in Tampa this week? From ‘American Idol’ winner Taylor Hicks to Christian rockers The Kantinas, listen to the sounds of the 2012 Republican National Convention.
What has two American Idols, five Christian rock star brothers, and the lead guitarist of Bob Dylan’s touring band from June 7, 1988, to Oct. 19, 1990?
You guessed it: the Republican National Convention!
Convention organizers have dived deep into the iPods of the American heartland for their lineup of musicians appearing on the two stages at the Tampa convention floor.
Among the performers scheduled are Taylor Hicks, winner of the fifth season of American Idol, ’90s rockers 3 Doors Down, Randy Owen—better known as the lead singer of country music group Alabama—and Neal E. Boyd, a winner of America’s Got Talent-turned-candidate for Florida’s 160th Congressional District.
