It Gets Better

Read Buzzfeed's Chris Geidner on the astounding steps forward for marriage equality in Maryland, Washington, and Maine -- and the wise choice from Minnesotans not to add an amendment banning same-sex marriage to their state constitution.

It's heartening stuff, and it affirms the ability of Americans to change their minds. Even a decade ago, this would have been inconceivable, but today, many loving couples wake to their fellow citizens recognizing the dignity and love found in their relationships.

Better yet, it was done at the ballot box instead of a courtoom.

And there is no going back. I assumed it would take a generation to see such change sweep the nation, but it's now coming very fast. Consider this a proud moment for an otherwise very cynical young American. On the merits of this issue alone, today is a great day.
