Break-in at Tower of London

Someone's for the chop

It’s supposed to be the most secure Royal prison in the land, home to the crown jewels and reserved for the most heinous traitors in the land.

So questions are being asked as to how a trespasser managed to break into the Tower of London at night – and steal a bunch of keys including the ones used to unlock the Tower’s drawbridges.

Police have said that the Crown Jewels were never at risk of being stolen.

A spokesman for Historic Royal Palaces, which runs the Tower, told the Sun: “A staff disciplinary procedure is under way.”

A source told the paper: “Security was a total shambles. The burglar climbed over the Front Gate then got over another gate and found a metal box with the keys inside.”
